The kids are really learning the lyrics to the songs. Now, we just need to keep working on the choreography. Musical Theater K-1 from 11:00-12:00 on Fridays in the Auditorium We will perform the Three Nanny Goats/Over The Bridge Opera--perfect for 5-7 year olds Musical Theater 2-3 from 12:00-1:00 on Fridays in the Auditorium Go Fish! is the musical play I picked because it is upbeat and has the theme of how our differences make us unique and special. It will be fun to 'go under the Sea." Read Naturally for Grades 1-3 on M/W from 10:00-10:30 in Mrs. Devine's Office If you want your child to make solid gains in Reading Fluency and also improve comprehension and vocabulary then be assured that Read Naturally is the ticket. Rocket Math on M/W from 10:30-10:50 in Mrs. Devine's Office Students will focus on math fact fluency for 20 minutes, working with a partner, and focusing on mastering 2 facts each day. This is a paper pencil , worksheet-based supplemental curriculum. Step Up To Writing for Grades 3 & 4 on M/W from 11:00-12:30 in the Project Room I love to teach writing and this curriculum is excellent! We will meet two days a week and then students will do about 20 minutes of assigned and related writing homework on T/Th/F. Let me take the task of teaching writing off your hands, parents! ***Next Session I will do Musical Theater for 4th & 5th Grade***** Next Monday, February 29th will be our last K-1 Musical Theater Class. We would like to invite family and friends of the class to come and listen to the kids sing their Raffi songs and have a snack together. They are so cute you will love it! Please contact me with questions. Rock & Roll ForeverWe are coming down to crunch time with our little musical. I told the kids that I would attach the script. I also emailed it to you last week. I am planning on calling each of you tomorrow to give you the updated schedule. We need some more practices to polish some things up. Dear Families: We are going to have our performance of “Rock & Roll Forever” for friends and families on Thursday, March 3rd at 3:00 p.m. I would also like to add an extra practice session on Thursday, Feb. 25th from 3:00-4:30. I understand if you already have prior commitments but would you mind emailing me back if your child can not make it at this time.
Also, I need people to be thinking about costumes. It would be great if the girls could dress in 50’s gear (poodle skirts, white shirt, scarf)—I tried to email a link from Amazon. They have them for sale for a very reasonable price. If you don’t want the 50’s look, then dress in beach attire. Arielle is Little Richard so she will maybe need a black wig (I think I have one) and Abigael is Elvis (I need to find the costume I have this week-end.) Boys should wear jeans, white t-shirts, and converse type tennis shoes with hair slicked back or beach gear. Please encourage your child to have his/her part almost memorized by Monday. We will spend the majority of the next two practices working on the choreography for the 5 songs so they should also know the songs well. They can just sing along with the CD whenever they get the chance. I sure appreciate your help on this!!!!! Stacey Macintosh and her daughter were kind enough to make some videos of the choreography for the songs. I feel like the motivated students in this class will take some time to learn the steps with these videos that I will email each of you. THANKS so much. Amie Devine Please enjoy practicing the choreography at home to Blue Suede Shoes and Tuti Fruiti Musical Theater is going great! We will be creating the Social Contract on January25th now that our class is complete! I Love how wonderful the students treat each other and how respectful they are. NO CLASS ON JANUARY 18th because the school district is not open that day. I am posting the dialog from ROCK & ROLL FOREVER Revue. You can find it on the bottom of the page. Some students wanted to have many parts and some students only wanted a couple so that is why it is not equal. However we will be editing and revising it as necessary so this is just the first draft. You can open the file below and practice at home. There are a few pictures from first semester's performance of Over The Bridge. We had so much fun.
